We're still in the nascent stage of the Big Bash League (BBL) season 13 and match 5 will see Sydney Sixers cross swords with Hobart Hurricanes in the North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground in Australia on 11th December at 1:45 PM IST.

The Sixers kicked off their campaign on a positive note after defeating the Melbourne Renegades by 8 runs in their curtain raiser. Steve Smith was influential with the bat, scoring a fifty and setting the tone for a 175-run total. In return, Ben Dwarshuis and Jackson Bird struck early with the ball; the former ending up with a three-fer in a winning cause.

On the other hand, the Hurricanes will play their first game of the season. Nathan Ellis has taken over the captaincy reigns but Matthew Wade is still in the side. They signed Liam Guthrie, a fellow left-arm quick from Western Australia to bolster their pace attack. Chris Jordan, Corey Anderson and Sam Hain are their primary overseas options.

HUR vs SIX, Match 5: Venue Analysis

This will be the first BBL game to be played in the venue. Previously a few WBBL matches have been played and the wicket generally favours spinners and medium pacers.  The wicket is slow natured and one needs to be technically good enough to cultivate runs here.

HUR vs SIX, Match 5: Toss Factor

The winning captain may chose to field first. It would be a good option to get the best out of the wicket for the bowlers early and then proceed with the run-chase carefully.

HUR vs SIX, Match 5: Top Captain and Vice-captain choices

Scenario: If Hobart Hurricanes field first

Patrick Dooley (HUR)

The uncanny spinner was one of the find of the tournament, the last year. He bagged 17 wickets from ten matches with a four-for against the Perth Scorchers. He has a strange run-up and has the ability to vary the pace with respect to the situations. Spinners have a good record in this ground and henceforth Dooley could be a great option.

Steve Smith (SIX)

Smudge is excellent in conditions where run-scoring is not easy. The former Australian captain scored a fifty in the last game and set the tone for a defendable total. Smith has been a different T20 batter since his promotion at the top of the order.

Scenario: If Sydney Sixers field first

Ben Dwarshuis (SIX)

The left-arm pacer is a consistent wicket-taker but often gets unnoticed. He is no new name in the BBL and is a great reader of the conditions. Dwarshuis bagged a three-fer in the last game and has the ability to bowl with the new ball as well as dish out the slower ones when needed.

Nathan Ellis (HUR)

Nathan Ellis is not some one who bowls a lot with the hard new ball. Rather, he is an excellent weapon during the middle and slog over phases. His change-of-pace with accuracy attracted bids in the IPL auction as well earned a national call-up. The captain would certainly look to lead from the front in their first game of the season.

HUR vs SIX, Match 5- Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Tim David (HUR)

When the top-order collapses, there's a certain character, named Tim David, who's known to steer the sheep for a longer period of time. The Singapore-born is a murderer of the cricket ball and is known for range hitting. Although risky, David could fetch rewards with the bat on any particular day.

Josh Phillipe (SIX)

The wicketkeeper-batter was once touted to be the next big thing in Australian cricket. However, his graph has plunged in recent times. But it does not rule out the fact that Phillipe is an incredible batter against both pace and spin. He did get a start in the last game against the Renegades and will look to convert in the forthcoming matches.
