Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner and Bollywood megastar Shahrukh Khan delivered a heartwarming welcome message for new captain Ajinkya Rahane. He sent good wishes and Rahane was overwhelmed with the honour.

The IPL 2025 season will begin on March 22 with defending champions KKR being in action against RCB at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Before the big curtain raiser, both teams have completed their final preparations. 

To raise the morale of the team, KKR co-owner and Bollywood star actor Shahrukh Khan visited the team and gave them his blessings.

As Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) gear up for their IPL 2025 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), team co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan delivered an inspiring pep talk to the squad. 

A video shared on KKR’s official social media handles captured the 59-year-old addressing the players and support staff, extending his best wishes for the upcoming season. 

He specially mentioned new captain Ajinkya Rahane and prayed that the Mumbai-born cricketer find his new home in Kolkata.

Rahane was named the captain of KKR after Shreyas Iyer was sold to PBKS during the 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 

Rain Likely To Play Spoilsport In KKR vs RCB Match

The IPL 2025 opening match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scheduled at Eden Gardens is likely to be affected by adverse weather conditions. 

Around the afternoon of March 22, the weather was mostly cloudy with a temperature of 25°C. The forecast for the night indicates cloudy conditions with a high of 30°C and a low of 20°C. 

Notably, IMD had issued an Orange Alert for March 22, predicting thunderstorms and rain for South Bengal, including Kolkata. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST, with the toss at 7:00 PM IST.​ Before that, an opening ceremony is also set to take place.
