CSK formally announced the trade of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to RR in exchange for Sanju Samson on Saturday, November 15. Chennai bid farewell to their veteran all-rounder with an emotional video covering his journey.

Jadeja, who played 13 seasons for Chennai Super Kings, has been traded to Rajasthan Royals, the team where he first began his IPL journey in 2008.

However, despite years of loyalty, Jadeja has been shown the exit door for Sanju Samson.

Meanwhile, as the trade was confirmed just hours before the IPL 2026 retention deadline, Chennai Super Kings released an emotional video on social media.

The video had glimpses of Jadeja’s interviews and special moments that he experienced in the CSK jersey.

In throwback clips, Jadeja shared his love for the franchise and also made a special mention to the fans for showing him all the love through the years.

CSK captioned the video as, “The Sword that guarded the Yellove kingdom. There are players, and there are protectors. He was both. Today, we bow in gratitude. For the finishes. For the breakthrough spells. Always our RaJa. Always our Thalapathy. Always our Jaddu!

Needless to say, the void of Ravindra Jadeja will be felt in CSK. He has been the backbone of the franchise, delivering iconic match-winning moments, including the IPL 2023 final, where he scored the winning runs.

However, from CSK’s perspective, they acquired Sanju Samson to prioritise their future. With MS Dhoni likely to retire in the coming years, Samson will succeed him as a skilled wicket-keeper with enough leadership experience.

That being said, along with Jadeja, Sam Curran is also a part of the trade package. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Curran will be seen in RR colours, whereas Sanju Samson will don the yellow jersey and share the dressing room with MS Dhoni.
