As jubilant fans and supporters gathered to laud the Men in Blue for their third consecutive win, an off-field moment involving the former captain, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma’s wife captured the hearts of millions.
Kohli's sweet gesture toward Ritika highlighted Team India's unity
The Men in Blue, who had registered their third successive win in the tournament, returned to their hotel to euphoric celebrations. Staff members lined up, applauding and cheering for the victorious team, creating a scene reminiscent of a grand royal welcome. Adding to the aura were the wives of the cricketers, proudly cheering for their partners and the team's collective achievement.
Among the attendees were Kohli's wife and actor Anushka Sharma, Rohit’s significant other, Ritika, and Prithi Ashwin, spouse of R. Ashwin.
In a display of camaraderie, Kohli was seen sharing a heartwarming moment with Ritika. As he entered the hotel, he greeted her with a warm hug, with Anushka and Prithi watching. Following this, Kohli shared a handshake with Prithi.
This tender gesture between Kohli and Ritika dispelled numerous unfounded rumours of a rift between the two cricketing stalwarts, Kohli and Rohit.
Although Kohli's performance on the field was subdued, having made only 16 off 18 balls, it was Rohit's spectacular innings of 86 off 63 balls that bolstered India's pursuit. With valuable contributions from Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, India chased down the 192-run target with ease, finishing in under 31 overs.
