IPL franchises are doubling down on creativity this season, blending cricket with blockbuster cinema to hype their campaigns. It's now more like moving over traditional hype videos as cinematic cricket is the new playbook.

From Chennai Super Kings’ Chhaava-themed promo starring Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja’s Pushpa-style swagger to Delhi Capitals’ KGF-inspired Karun Nair entry, teams are leveraging Bollywood and South Indian movie tropes to electrify fans. Now, Rajasthan Royals have joined the bandwagon with a fiery parody of the film Chava, featuring Nitish Rana.

Nitish Rana’s ‘Chava’ Roars With A Battle Cry

In the video, Rana transforms into a warrior leader, rallying his troops with the dialogue, “Samay aa gaya hai, ab war hoga. Aane waale musibatton ko jala kar rakh kar denge. Har ek fan ka sapna poora karke hi chodenge.”

Clad in Chhaava's warrior avatar against a backdrop of blazing torches, he channels the film’s protagonist, declaring Rajasthan’s readiness for the IPL battlefield.

The video, steeped in mythological grandeur and mass appeal, taps into the franchise’s “royal” identity while signalling their aggressive intent for IPL 2025.

From KKR Loyalist to Rajasthan’s New Warrior

The promo also marks Rana’s emotional transition from Kolkata Knight Riders, where he spent seven seasons, to Rajasthan Royals. Acquired for INR 4.2 crore at the 2024 mega auction, Rana bid farewell to KKR with a heartfelt note.

Royals, however, have big plans for the explosive left-hander, eyeing him as a versatile middle-order anchor and spin-basher, a role crucial for their batting depth on slower pitches.

Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL 2025 journey on March 23 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With Rana’s Chava act setting the tone, the franchise hopes to channel the video’s combative spirit into a winning start.
