During the second ODI between India and South Africa in Raipur, Virat Kohli was like his true old self. After a record century, he made animated gestures towards Temba Bavuma that set the internet ablaze.
In the first inning, Kohli caught all the attention with a stunning knock of 102 off 93 balls. That marked his 53rd ODI ton and 84th overall international century.
Virat Kohli’s hilarious celebration goes viral
Meanwhile, in the second inning, Virat Kohli was enjoying himself on the field. After Arshdeep Singh dismissed Quinton de Kock early in the first powerplay, Kohli celebrated the wicket aggressively.
His intense energy and emotion gave fans a wave of nostalgia. However, as soon as Temba Bavuma walked out to bat at no. 3, Kohli mocked him.
He was dancing to the tunes of the DJ and suddenly made a ‘Babaji Thullu’ gesture, which left the fans in splits.
Some fans loved his carefree attitude, while others felt the gesture was unnecessary given how much pressure and tension existed on the field.
Regardless, the video has gone viral on social media and will continue to remain a talking point.
Virat Kohli again bumps into an intruder
Meanwhile, not all the attention was positive. During the drinks break in India’s innings, a fan managed to run onto the field and tried to touch Virat Kohli’s feet.
This shocking incident caused panic for a few seconds. Players, officials, and spectators were clearly surprised as the fan rushed towards the star batter.
Virat Kohli looked confused but stayed calm as security guards quickly ran in and caught the intruder.
What made the situation more serious was the fact that a similar breach had already happened in the first ODI in Ranchi. Two incidents in back-to-back matches raised serious questions about player safety and stadium security.
Meanwhile, India posted 358 runs on the board in the first innings after Kohli and Gaikwad scored a century each and put together a 195-run partnership.
