Kohli had the time to enjoy the anniversary at his residence in Mumbai with friends and family after being given a break from the limited-overs section of the ongoing senior Indian team tour to South Africa.

The great batter, who had earlier skipped the five-match T20I series at home against Australia, requested the BCCI to extend his break until the marquee two-match Test series in the rainbow nation starts on December 26 in Centurion.

The 35-year-old continues to overcome the bitter setback endured by him and rest of the Men in Blue in the ICC World Cup 2023 final defeat at the hands of the Aussies on November 19.

The World Cup was a grand success for Kohli personally as he surpassed his inspiration Sachin Tendulkar's remarkable tally of centuries in One-Day Internationals and finished as the 'Player of the Tournament' with 765 runs made in 11 innings.

The legend made three exceptional hundreds during the tournament against Bangladesh, South Africa and New Zealand, with the last of the trio being the most special as it arrived in Tendulkar's den - the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai  in the semifinal- and helped Kohli reach the much-awaited 50th ton in the format.
