The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 finale was a joyful evening for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but it turned out to be a heartbreaking moment for the Shreyas Iyer led Punjab Kings. The team reached their first final in 11 years and in a close-fought contest, RCB prevailed over them.

Special message to Shreyas Iyer

Now after 4 days of the IPL finale, Shreyas Iyer's sister, Shresta penned an emotional note for her brother, hailing him for his stupendous performance throughout the IPL campaign. In an Instagram post, Shresta called Iyer an extraordinary person with incredible talent.

"To our Sarpanch,🙌 You are truly an extraordinary person with incredible talent! No matter how much we say about you, it will never be enough. You’ve proven yourself time and again, and I’m genuinely proud of everything you’ve achieved — it’s a huge accomplishment. I respect you not just for your phenomenal performance in this year’s IPL, but even more for the relentless hard work and dedication that went into making it happen.

You are my true champion, a natural leader, and an inspiration. ❤️🧿 Win or lose — you’ll always be a winner in my eyes. To Sadda Punjab,❤️What a journey it’s been! I’m beyond proud of every single one of you. You’ve all stepped up and proven yourselves, time after time. This is just the beginning, there’s so much greatness ahead for each of you! Can’t wait for next season already! You’ve won countless hearts, and that’s what makes you true winners. Love you, team Punjab Kings! ❤️❤️❤️," Shresta wrote.

Iyer's brilliant IPL campaign as batter and captain

Punjab bought him for a whopping 26.75 crore and he became the second most expensive signing in IPL history. Pressure was high but Iyer and his team delivered the goods. After 11 years (2014), Iyer took PBKS to the IPL finale but he just couldn't cross the final hurdle. He, alongside coach Ricky Ponting created a strong squad which finished at the top of the table.

With the bat he was stupendous as well. In 17 matches Iyer amassed 604 runs, with a strike rate of 175 as the skipper of the team led from the front.
