After the entertaining Tests and ODIs, India and South Africa are set to clash in a 5-match T20I series, starting from today at the Barabati Stadium in Assam. With only a few hours left for the game to start, the BCCI, on the official Twitter handle of Team India, shared an amusing video of the Indian players donning the newly-launched T20I jersey for the first time ahead of the home World Cup 2026.

The apex body of cricket in India arranged the pre-series photoshoot featuring stars like Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and even Jasprit Bumrah wearing the new look.

"Ready for the third star" - India skipper SKY hopeful for back-to-back WC titles

India has only 10 T20 Internationals before the ICC event in February next year, and it's time for a dress rehearsal before the final act goes under in less than 2 months.

"The three strips are loud and clear, but yeah, two stars are already here, and are prepared for the third," said the Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav in the video.

India will play another five-match T20I series against New Zealand in Jan next year, and collectively and individually, the 360-degree man would certainly like to make the most of the opportunity.

The Men in Blue will aim to fine-tune a champion squad that they will likely be able to carry the weight of expectations in front of the home crowd.

Coming fresh from a dominant victory in the Asia Cup 2025, winning the final against arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian contingent will hope to defend the T20I ICC title, despite the absence of paramount players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja.

BCCI unveiled the new T20I look in presence of the former World Cup Winner Rohit Sharma

Legendary white-ball batter and one of the most successful Indian captains, Rohit Sharma, unveiled the national team’s new T20I jersey last week during the mid-innings break of the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur.

He was joined on stage by Tilak Varma for the presentation, where BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and Adidas India GM Vijay Chauhan formally handed over the World Cup jerseys to the duo.

The latest jersey, manufactured by Adidas and the BCCI, blends a modern high-performance silhouette with inspiration from the iconic striped India jerseys of the 1990s. The kit introduces contemporary pattern innovation with a retro twist, while retaining the legendary neckline from the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning jersey.
