Cricket and Tennis are two sports that never have a proper break time as they are played 365 days. In Tennis, the world witnessed the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, dominate for ages. Now, the newer generation has another Spaniard dominating - Carlos Alcaraz.
The 5-time Grand Slam champion has already made a name for himself in a short period and continues to dazzle in the ongoing Wimbledon Championship in London. Tennis stars resemble so many cricketers in terms of traits. The personnel in the two sports have so many things in common and in this piece, we look at which Cricketer resembles which Tennis stars.
Carlos Alcaraz 🤝 Rohit Sharma
The two stars of their respective sports have so many things in common. Rohit Sharma is a laidback character and sometimes can look unserious on a Cricket field. He is also unpredictable as a batter - sometimes he can be dismissed by an ordinary bowler, and on other days, he can demolish the best in the world and the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitch Starc know it first hand, as they experienced it during the T20 World Cup, last year.
Similarly, Alcaraz is a happy-go-lucky character and usually plays Tennis to feel the joy of it. On one fine day, he can crumble against world number 100, and on the other day, he can dismantle the best-ranked Tennis player of the current generation - Jannik Sinner. From a laidback personality to suddenly getting serious - the two have so many things in common.
Roger Federer 🤝 Sachin Tendulkar
Two of the most gifted athletes in their respective sports, Roger Federer, the former 20-time Grand Slam champion, and Sachin Tendulkar, the "God" of Cricket resemble each other in every sense. The two float like a butterfly and sting like a bee and are the two most adored players in the Tennis and Cricket world.
At the peak of his powers, Federer was untouchable and was the best in the world, sitting at the pinnacle of Tennis. Similarly, during the late 1990s and early 2000s, there was nobody who could lace Tendulkar's boots as he was the best Cricket player during the period.
Novak Djokovic 🤝 Virat Kohli
The two anti-system athletes of their respective sports. Virat Kohli and Djokovic were not as talented as the Federer's or the Tendulkar's but they worked hard to reach the top of the world with their sheer hard work.
Djokovic's regime inspired Kohli to change his diet and work on his body to prolong his Cricket career. When Djokovic came onto the scene, he broke the duopoly of Federer and Nadal. Similarly, when Kohli debut, he worked hard to beat everyone and become the King of Cricket.
Also, the two are not the most popular amongst media people due to their fearless and in-your-face attitude.
Rafael Nadal 🤝 Yuvraj Singh
The two fighters of the Tennis and Cricket world - Rafael Nadal and Yuvraj Singh have a never-say-die attitude as giving up is not in their dictionary.
Nadal was diagnosed with Mueller-Weiss syndrome, a rare degenerative condition affecting the navicular bone in his foot. Despite this, he fought hard and bagged 22 Grand Slam titles. Similarly, at the peak of his powers, Yuvraj was diagnosed with Lung cancer. He could have given up on playing Cricket but instead, he showed grit and determination and came back once again to live his Cricketing life.
