Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara bid adieu to International cricket this morning after a successful Test career. The 37-year-old thanked everyone for their contribution to his career, while wishes poured in from his former colleagues.
Pujara's Incredible Test Career Comes To An End
Cheteshwar Pujara had a successful Test career, as after featuring in 103 games, he smashed 7,195 runs at an average of 43.61 with a strike rate of 44.37, enough to tire out the bowlers. With 35 half-centuries and 19 centuries, alongside 3 double hundreds, Pujara ended what can be easily termed as one of the most successful careers in red-ball cricket.
The Rajkot-born also featured in five ODIs for India, but his name was synonymous with the white Indian jersey. After the end of a successful career, many former cricketers joined in to wish Pujara for his contribution to Indian cricket. The hero for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2020-21, Pujara played against the odds, trusting his defence against the Australian bowling lineup, as he took blow after blow to his body for his country.
From the current head coach, Gautam Gambhir, Indian captain Shubman Gill, and star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, everyone gave Pujara the respect he deserves, as they wrote some heartfelt wishes for the Saurashtra cricketer.
