Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam is one of the three players granted permission to attend opening batter Imam Ul Haq's wedding on Thursday (November 23). As the experienced Pakistan cricketer ties the knot, he will be greeted in the ceremony by his former skipper Babar alongside experienced wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed and wrist-spinner Usman Qadir.

The trio of Pakistan cricketers have been allowed a break after today's practice session to attend Imam's special wedding, according to a report by 'Cricket Pakistan'. All three players are part of Pakistan's preparatory camp currently going in Rawalpindi ahead of the marquee three-match Test series in Australia.

Reportedly, the Pakistan opener is about to get to Anmol Mehboob over the coming weekend; however, the couple-to-be hasn't confirmed the news - apart from dropping a few hints on social media.

Babar Granted Permission To Attend Imam's Wedding

However, in an appreciable gesture by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and new team management led by coach and director of cricket Mohammad Hafeez, Babar and two other players Sarfaraz and Qadir were given a break from the camp to attend Imam's wedding.

The three players will be allowed to attend the ceremony with an early exit from the practice duties as Imam's longstanding friends within the Pakistan set-up.

For Babar, this would be a welcome news and relief required after being in the face of criticism and scrutiny for Pakistan's disappointing pre-semifinal exit from the ICC World Cup 2023, following which he resigned from captaincy across formats.

Having lost their last straight Tests Down Under since the 1999-2000 trip, Pakistan returned to Australia for the next three games of their World Test Championship (WTC) campaign. The Test series starts on December 14 with matches scheduled in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. New captain Shan Masood will be captaining the side.
