After the influx of T20 Leagues, the global paradigm is shifting towards the T10 format, especially for boards who are looking out for lucrative deals.
The newest entrant in this is Zimbabwe Cricket, who have announced the launch of their first-ever T10 tournament, which will begin in March 2023. Named Zim Afro T10, the competition will be on the lines of the Abu Dhabi T10 and will be a six-a-side affair.
The Zim Afro T10 will be co-owned by Mulk International, which runs the Abu Dhabi T10 League, and recently announced the start of the Lanka T10 League as well in partnership with Sri Lanka Cricket.
According to ESPNcricinfo, speaking about their new venture, ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani expressed delight.
"We are pleased to announce the introduction of Zimbabwe's own franchise-based T10 league, a powerful format that we believe is exactly what our changing, fast-paced world needs right now,"
The board is hopeful of inviting the best franchise players in the world and providing local talent much-needed exposure to rub hands with stars.
The tournament is scheduled to commence on March 29, 2023, with the players' draft, auction, and franchise details being announced at a later date.
