The 2nd edition of the Women's Premier League will be played in the home-away format in November with a bigger window, Jay Shah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary said.

Mumbai hosted the inaugural edition of the tournament, where Mumbai Indians Women clinched the championship title. The tournament was played across two venues in the city: Dr DY Patil Stadium, and Brabourne Stadium.

Earlier this month, Arun Dhumal, the chairman of IPL, confirmed that the WPL would continue as a five-team tournament for the next three seasons, and that a home-and-away format will be introduced to develop a strong fan base.

Meanwhile, Shah was quoted as saying that,

"We are mulling the possibility of scheduling the WPL, in the home and away format, in the Diwali window; not two seasons in a year but just a different time window."

The inaugural edition of the tournament saw Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore as the five participating teams.

The source further added that there have also been discussions, including postponing the WPL to later in the year, around Diwali, but nothing has been finalised yet.
