Kane Williamson is one of the modern day legends and has won numerous games for his side with his crafty batting across formats. However, he has been laid low by string of injuries in recent times since he suffered an ACL injury in 2023 IPL opener between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. He recovered well after that big blow and made his much-awaited comeback in New Zealand's third game against Bangladesh where he scored 78 before getting hit on his left thumb that forced him to walk off the field.

He has been watching the World Cup from the sidelines since then, but now ahead of crucial encounter against Pakistan, he is back to batting at nets and could make his comeback for the big game. It is a day game between Pakistan and New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, and New Zealand after two consecutive losses, would be eyeing a strong comeback.

However, it remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to play an ODI game and if he does play, it will be a big boost for the Kiwis. A win will go a long way in sealing New Zealand's spot in the semis but if Pakistan win, it would put immense pressure on New Zealand going into the final league game against Sri Lanka.
