In a surprising move, the absence of Shubman Gill from India's main squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 has raised eyebrows among cricket enthusiasts. With Rohit Sharma leading the team and Hardik Pandya as his deputy, Gill's exclusion comes as a significant development.

Gill's omission is particularly striking given the anticipation surrounding his potential inclusion. The Ajit Agar-led committee named four reserve players for Team India: Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan. 

However, Gill's name was conspicuously absent from the main squad.



The decision to leave out Shubhman Gill may have been influenced by his recent performance in T20Is. Despite his promise as a talented batsman, Gill's lackluster display in the format, with just 133 runs in his last eight innings, likely contributed to the selectors' decision.

As the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, the spotlight now shifts to the tournament's commencement on June 2, with the USA facing Canada in Dallas. 

India's campaign will kick off on June 5 against Ireland in New York, followed by the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue.
