Pakistan’s women’s cricket team has qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 after beating Thailand by 67 runs in the qualifiers held in Lahore. However, their qualification is an issue for India as they are set to host the tournament between September and November this year.

India and Pakistan’s cricket relations have been severed due to political tensions that arose after the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The two teams only face each other in ICC events.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s women's team have successfully qualified for the upcoming Women’s World Cup which is set to be hosted by India later in the year.

Pakistan Women To Travel To India For The World Cup?

Pakistan’s qualification has created a new challenge for the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI). Due to political tensions, India and Pakistan have not played bilateral series for years.

Last year, both countries agreed that any India vs Pakistan matches in ICC tournaments until 2027 will be played at neutral venues. This rule now affects the Women’s World Cup 2025.

Since India is hosting the tournament, the BCCI must now arrange a neutral venue for all matches involving Pakistan. This includes group matches, and if Pakistan reaches the semi-final or final, those games will also be moved outside India.

A similar arrangement was made earlier this year during the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. India did not travel to Pakistan and played their matches in Dubai instead. Other teams had to travel between Pakistan and Dubai, causing extra logistical problems.

How Pakistan Qualified For the World Cup?

Pakistan’s women’s cricket team has officially secured a spot in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 after a commanding win against Thailand in Lahore. With this victory, they continued their unbeaten run in the qualifiers and became the first team to book a place in the main tournament.

Pakistan chose to bat first, and they put up a healthy total of 205 in 50 overs. Sidra Ameen contributed with a gritty 80 off 105 balls. Skipper Fatima Sana then took charge with a 62 off mere 59 balls.

Pakistan's bowlers provided a great support to the batting effort with a scintillating display. Nashra Sandhu and Rameen Shamim also shone as they claimed three wickets each. Thailand were bowled out for only 118 runs, handing Pakistan a massive 87-run victory.
