The much-awaited Mohammed Shami comeback is here. The pacer has been included in the playing XI for the third T20I in Rajkot after missing the initial two games. The superstar has replaced Arshdeep Singh, and it is the only change in the Indian team as they look to take an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the series.
The reason for the exclusion of Arshdeep Singh and inclusion of Mohammed Shami is that the third T20I is a perfect opportunity for the team management to try out the pacer before the ODIs as he can be again rested for fourth or fifth T20I again before the ODI series. It also gives Arshdeep Singh some much-deserved rest as he would be part of ODIs as well as Champions Trophy squad.
Mohammed Shami Makes His International Comeback After 14 Months
Mohammed Shami is making his comeback to international cricket after 14 months as he went through the Achilles Tendon surgery after the 2023 World Cup. He recently made his comeback in domestic cricket and has now been included in the Champions Trophy squad as well.
The pacer from Bengal last played a T20I in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal against England, but has done well in IPL in recent times and would be hoping to make an impact on his return. Shami's pace would also be in spotlight as it would help determine his fitness level and let's see how he goes about his business on the flat deck in Rajkot.
