The big day is here for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as India face New Zealand in the final match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium this Sunday. The teams are all set for the showdown.

This match is a rematch of the 2000 ICC Knockouts final, where India and New Zealand last clashed in a thrilling final. Back then, New Zealand won the title by defeating India in Nairobi. Since then, the Blackcaps have been playing strong cricket, most recently beating South Africa to make it to the final.

When Will the India vs New Zealand Match Start?

If you're in India, the match will begin at 2:30 PM IST, with the toss happening at 2:00 PM IST. In Dubai, the toss will take place at 12:30 PM local time, and play will start at 1:00 PM local time.

When Did India Last Face New Zealand In An ICC Tournament Final?

Notably, their last ICC tournament final clash was in the 2021 ICC World Test Championship final, played in Southampton.  In that match, India struggled against Kiwi’s disciplined bowling attack. The Kiwis restricted India to 217 runs in the first innings, with Kyle Jamieson taking five wickets. In the second innings, India managed only 170 runs, with Tim Southee taking four wickets and Trent Boult picking up three.

Chasing 139 runs for victory, New Zealand lost a couple of early wickets but comfortably sealed the win. Captain Kane Williamson played a match-winning 50-run knock, while Ross Taylor’s 47 off 100 balls played a crucial role in the chase.

India tried to build partnerships but failed to convert them into big scores. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were the top scorers in the first innings with 44 runs  and 49 runs, respectively. In the second innings, Rohit Sharma (30) and Rishabh Pant (41) fought hard, but the rest of the batters couldn't handle New Zealand's high-class bowling attack. Eventually, Black Caps’s strong bowling and calm chase helped them lift the first-ever ICC World Test Championship trophy.
