Sir Issac Alexander Vivian Richards, the mightiest of all West Indies greats, was portrayed on the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank's special note issued to commemorate the bank's 40th anniversary.

Known for his unmatched swagger and dominance with the bat in an illustrious career spanning 17 years from 1974 to 1991, the Caribbean legend was paid a fitting tribute by the bank on a memorable day as it launched an EC$2 commemorative polymer banknote.

The special currency was announced upon the completion of four decades of its existence by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and contained a mark of remembrance and respect on its newly-launched EC$2 note to Richards, who was also one of the most successful West Indies captains during his prime.

The 71-year-old charismatic cricketer, who hails from Antigua, is loved and adored to the core by cricket supporters in the region and fans globally for his pathbreaking style and relentless belligerence in the middle.

It started with the most memorable and intimidating walk to the playing surface before Richards unveiled his magic and wrath against the opposition attacks in his heyday. Batting with sheer disdain and unfazed attitude, the great man brought many opposing sides down in submission.

In all, he played 121 Tests with 8,540 runs at an average of 50.23 and made 24 hundreds and 45 half-centuries besides bulling bowlers over 187 matches in One-Day Internationals with 6,721 runs at an average of 47 while making 11 centuries and 45 fifties.

During an era where most of the world was struggling to find its feet in the faster-paced game of ODIs, Richards scored his runs at an amazing strike rate of 90.20 and is regarded as one of the greatest ever players to have graced the cricket field.
