Continuing their sublime form, West Indies won their third consecutive ODI against the Netherlands, thereby whitewashing the Dutch side in the three-match series in Amstelveen yesterday.
After opting to bat first, the men in maroon posted a huge total of 308 runs on the board, to which the home side fell short by 20 runs despite fighting half-centuries from their openers Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd.
Nicholas Pooran expressed his immense happiness on registering an emphatic 3-nil victory in his debut series as the West Indies captain in the post-match presentation. Pooran also highly applauded the entire team's performance, emphasising the magnificent returns of the debutants and the spinners.
"Very pleased with this new team, the first time as a captain. I love how the guys have performed with their opportunities, the two debutants performed well, and the spinners have bowled well," Pooran said.
Pooran said that they could execute their plans on the field, which resulted in their astounding success in the third ODI. He also sounded delightful as West Indies, contrary to his expectations, received massive support from the Amsterdam crowd, which had people from not only the Caribbean but also other parts of the world.
"Today, the guys took on the challenge, we stuck to our plans, and we came up on top", the dynamic southpaw said. "First time coming to Amsterdam, surprised with the crowd, we have got fans not only from the Caribbean but all over the world, really happy to play in front of this crowd," the 26-year-old concluded.
West Indies will now head to Pakistan to play a three-match ODI series, which begins on June 8 in Multan.
