We have worked hard for it: Rashid Khan on Super Four Spot

Afghanistan, on Tuesday (August 30) became the first team to qualify for the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup T20 2022 tournament. 

The Mohammed Nabi-led side has played a fearless and aggressive brand of cricket so far and looks like an absolute force to be reckoned with in the continental tournament.  

Having butchered Sri Lanka in the opening fixture by eight wickets, Afghanistan went on to annihilate Bangladesh by seven wickets in their next game to secure a spot in the Super Four. 

Weighing in on the same, the Afghanistan spin ace Rashid Khan stated that they have toiled hard to secure the spot in Super Four and the team will continue playing in the same manner in their forthcoming matches.

“Definitely you are happy when you finish on top. We have worked hard for it and the kind of experience we have had playing the Asia Cup in the past."

"We will try to play in the same way and we were struggling in the batting little bit and in that area also we gave a good performance and we will try to continue it in the same way."  


Afghanistan up for forthcoming challenges 

The precocious leg spinner further shed light on their upcoming challenges, stating that they are preparing to take on their opponents with a positive mindset. 

“For every team, our job is to play cricket against any team and we prepare ourselves who so ever the opposition be we have to go with a good frame of mindset. It is not that the preparation of one team is different than others.”  

Meanwhile, Afghanistan, India, and Sri Lanka are the three teams that have already qualified for the Super-four stage. 

As things stand, Afghanistan next bumps heads with Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage on Saturday before gravitating towards Men in Blue on Tuesday in the Super Four stage.
