Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) prevailed by three wickets over St Lucia Kings (SLK) in Match 2 of the Caribbean Premier League 2022 at Warner Park.

Akeal Hosein's show put Kings under pressure

Opting to field first, Knight Riders got crucial wickets of Johnson Charles and Leroy Lugg courtesy Akeal Hosein and Sunil Narine respectively, which devoid Kings off a good start.

The experienced batters, Mark Deyal (35) and Roston Chase (19) were starting to look threatening but fell prey to the proficient Hosein.

Afterwards, the in-form Roshon Primus slammed 38 off 25 to help the team in finishing on a total of 143.

Hosein registered his career-best figures of 4/13 in the shortest format, while Jayden Seales bagged two wickets.

In the early part of second half, Kings got crucial breakthroughs in form of Narine (6) and Nicholas Pooran (4). However, Tion Webster (58) and Tim Seifert added 81 runs for the third wicket to put the team back on track.

Alzarri Joseph dismissed Andre Russell (5) in the 14th over, to bring back Kings into the contest. However, the things were going smoothly for Knight Riders until the 18th over.

It was a lethal pace bowling display by the lanky Joseph, who send Siefert (34), Kieron Pollard (17) and Seekkuge Prasanna (1) into the hut in the 19th over.

In the last over, Anderson Phillip completed the game proceedings by hitting a maximum, and getting Knight Riders off the mark in the tournament.
