In a bid to bounce back from their disheartening defeat in the Boxing Day Test at Centurion, Team India, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, engaged in an optional training session ahead of the highly anticipated second Test against the home team.

Rohit Sharma, who faced a dual setback with scores of 5 and 0 in the previous Test, showcased resilience by dedicating an extensive period to batting in the nets.

The Indian skipper, determined to lead from the front, sought to rectify both his batting and captaincy performances that fell short in the Centurion encounter. His commitment to addressing the challenges posed by South African pacer Kagiso Rabada was evident during the rigorous practice.

However, not all key players participated in the optional session. Star batter Virat Kohli, who emerged as the lone warrior for Team India in the second innings of the Boxing Day Test, opted to skip the practice, along with Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Mohammad Siraj.

On the bowling front, Prasidh Krishna, who faced a tough initiation in his Test debut, dedicated himself to intense training in the nets. Under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and head coach Rahul Dravid, Krishna aimed to address the challenges he encountered in the previous match.

The upcoming second Test between India and South Africa is scheduled to take place at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town from January 3 to 7.
