Indian captain Rohit Sharma caught up with KKR star Rinku Singh right after the T20 World Cup 2024 press conference in Mumbai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad on April 30.
The biggest talking point that emerged from the announcement was the absence of Rinku from the primary line-up. The attacking left-handed batter was added among the four travelling reserves for the tournament instead.

Rohit Sharma was seen on the field at Wankhede Stadium where he caught up several of visiting KKR stars, including captain Shreyas Iyer, coach Gautam Gambhir as well as Rinku Singh. The Mumbai Indians opener even engaged in a brief chat with Rinku after the latter was excluded from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
The Mumbai Indians franchise released a short footage of Rohit Sharma’s interaction with KKR, shortly after the Indian captain had attended a T20 World Cup 2024 press conference in Mumbai alongside chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
During the press conference, cricketer-turned-selector Ajit Agarkar explained that excluding Rinku Singh from the composition was “probably the toughest” decision they made. He added that the selection committee wanted to select a couple of wrist spinners in the 15-player group instead in order to give captain Rohit Sharma more options on Caribbean pitches.
Both Sharma and Rinku Singh will be seen taking on each other at the Wankhede Stadium on May 3 through Mumbai Indians’ home game against KKR. Soon after the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2024 season, the Indian team will be taking flight for the West Indies and the United States for next month’s T20 World Cup 2024.
