Robin Uthappa pulled off match-winning blinder with the bat against Cape Town Samp Army in the Eliminator of the 2023 Zim-Afro T10 season. The former Indian batter, while opening the innings for Harare Hurricanes, blasted a 36-ball 88* to orchestrate a sensational run-chase for his side.

Uthappa clubbed eight boundaries and six sixes in his innings, and also hit the winning runs in the final over of the match.

Amidst Uthappa’s run-riot at the Harare Sports Club, the cricketer also reverse-ramped one above wicketkeeper’s head for a boundary against Zimbabwe-based 25-year-old speedster Richard Ngarava.

Robin Uthappa opened the innings for Harare Hurricanes alongside Evin Lewis in the all-important eliminator clash. Chasing a monumental task of 146 runs from 10 overs, the Indian veteran smeared 88* from just 36 deliveries to boost his side into the second qualifier of the tournament.

Interestingly, one of his eight boundaries from his thunderous knock was a reverse-ramp shot against Samp Army pacer Richard Ngarva. The right-hander, in the very last moment, swiftly adjusted his hands to deflect the ball over the wicketkeeper’s head.

Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, the team failed to go past Durban Qalandars in the second qualifier as they went down in the game by six wickets.

Earlier in the tournament, the Hurricanes had qualified for the playoffs by finishing fourth on the Zim-Afro T10 2023 points table. They secured four wins from their eight fixtures, and tipped Bulawayo Braves by two points to secure one of the four available playoffs slots.
