In a significant development, veteran English fast bowler Stuart Broad bid adieu to Test cricket on Saturday. Addressing the media, Broad announced that he would hang up his boots after the ongoing fifth Ashes Test against Australia at the Oval. Like his partner-in-crime, James Anderson, Broad has been a ruthless force with the ball, particularly on home soil. His Test career, spanning over sixteen years, saw him running through lineups and finishing with 600 wickets, a rare feat for a fast bowler. Although Broad has delivered numerous magical performances, his best figures of eight for 15 is still regarded as one of the most lethal bowling spells in cricket history.

So, as the talismanic seamer bids farewell to the purest format, let's relive the iconic spell he delivered at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, in the Ashes 2015.

Stuart Broad's Iconic Spell Of 8/15 vs Australia in Ashes 2015

After securing a two-one lead in the first three games, England were high on confidence as they entered the iconic Nottingham in a bid to win the fourth Test and bag the series. Their expectations turned into reality as Stuart Broad showcased his class for the umpteenth time, dismantling Australia with an exhibition of classic seam bowling.

England's decision to let Australia bat on a challenging track turned out to be a masterstroke, with Broad weaving his magic dismissing Chris Rogers and Steve Smith in the very first over.

His new-ball partner Mark Wood removed David Warner in the next over, leaving Australia reeling at 10 for three in 1.2 overs. If that wasn't enough, Broad came back to haunt the visitors, dismissing Shaun Marsh, Adam Voges and Michael Clarke in successive overs.

After recording the fastest-ever fifer, Broad exploited the seam-friendly conditions superbly and scalped three more wickets to finish with incredible figures of eight for 15, the sixth-best by an Englishman in Test history. His valiant efforts didn't go in vain, as England registered a comprehensive victory by an innings and 78 runs over their arch-rivals to regain the Ashes.
