Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and several of his teammates played a game of table tennis just a day prior to the launch of their 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign in Karachi. Remarkably, the Pakistan players were also joined by Afghanistan’s spin wizard and PSL colleague Rashid Khan.
Much like the Pakistan cricket team, the Rashid Khan-starrer Afghanistan group will also be commencing their Champions Trophy campaign at the Karachi-based National Stadium.
Lahore Qalandars players reunite before Champions Trophy
Pakistan fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, as well as blistering top-order batter Fakhar Zaman played a game of table tennis together a day prior to Pakistan’s opening match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy against New Zealand.
The three Pakistani cricketers, who also play for the Lahore Qalandars franchise, were reunited with PSL teammate and Afghanistan’s enigma machine Rashid Khan, as seen in a two-minute-long video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday, February 18.
Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman as well as a fit-again Haris Rauf are all slated to face New Zealand in the opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 19 at the iconic National Stadium in Karachi.
Meanwhile, the Rashid Khan-starrer Afghanistan team, placed in Group B of the tournament, will go up against South Africa on February 21 at the same Karachi-based venue.
The ICC Champions Trophy is making its return to cricketing lore after a gap of eight years through the upcoming 2025 edition. While originally slated to be hosted in its entirety by Pakistan, BCCI’s reluctance in sending the Indian team over security concerns prompted the PCB and ICC to co-host the tournament with the UAE-based Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
