Mumbai erupted in euphoria on the night of March 10 as India’s triumphant captain, Rohit Sharma, arrived home following the Men in Blue’s emphatic Champions Trophy 2025 victory in Dubai. Chants of “Mumbai cha raja!” (King of Mumbai) echoed across the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport as thousands of fans swarmed to welcome Rohit Sharma.

The skipper, who led India to its third Champions Trophy title, acknowledged the roaring crowd with waving hands and a smile, embodying the pride of a nation still buzzing from its cricketing glory.

Rohit Arrives In His Den!

The clip released by Mumbai Indians on their official social media handle saw Rohit Sharma dashing to a car sporting a black tee and a pair of black aviators.

Though bodyguards protected him, he had a tough time needling through the sea of people. However, he struck a smile waved his hands to greet the fans and headed to the car.

India's Road To Lifting The Trophy

India clinched the ICC Champions Trophy with a four-wicket win over New Zealand in Dubai, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the tournament.

After winning the toss, New Zealand made a strong start. However, India’s spinners dominated the middle overs, restricting scoring opportunities and picking up key wickets. Notably, Michael Bracewell’s late surge helped New Zealand post a competitive total.

India's chase began aggressively, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting up a solid 105-run opening stand. However, New Zealand fought back with timely breakthroughs.

Despite the setbacks, India’s batting depth proved crucial as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja guided the team home with an over to spare. Notably, after the win, Rohit Sharma also praised his team’s “relentless passion” and hailed the youngsters as “the future of Indian cricket.”

No Victory Parade, But Mumbai’s Love Fills the Void

Despite the historic win, this time there will be no official victory parade due to the impending Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, set to kick off on March 22. However, Mumbai’s thunderous welcome for Rohit Sharma underscored the fans’ unwavering fervour.

Notably, the craze was also sky-high on the night of India's win when thousands of people flocked to the streets of Mumbai to celebrate the much-coveted victory.

Now, the city of Mumbai awaits their stars to perform in the busy IPL season where the Mumbai Indians will first meet Chennai Super Kings on March 23 and MI's first home game on March 31 against KKR.
