In the recent turn of events surrounding India's three-match ODI series against the West Indies, speculations have been put to rest as OneCricket confirms that Indian batter, Virat Kohli will not be included in India's playing XI for the third and decisive ODI at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Tuesday.

Will Virat Kohli play 3rd ODI vs West Indies?

India won the first ODI by five wickets, with Kohli not having to bat despite being in the playing eleven. He was subsequently rested for the second match at Kensington Oval, which India lost by six wickets. This loss set the stage for a series decider, but Kohli's absence from the travelling team's video to Trinidad sparked widespread speculation over his availability for the final match.

Internet was abuzz with claims that Kohli would not only miss the third ODI but might even return home before the end of the series. However, Kohli later travelled to Trinidad independently.

In the latest development, sources close to the team revealed to OneCricket that Kohli's absence from the playing XI for the third ODI is confirmed. This news comes amid reports that the star batter is unhappy with the team management's decision to rest him from the second ODI, especially in the run-up to the highly anticipated World Cup in 2023.

To cushion the decision, it seems that captain Rohit Sharma was also rested from the second ODI. Rohit's absence was reportedly intended to prevent Kohli from feeling singled out. The Indian skipper is understood to be returning to the side for the third ODI, while Kohli is to be rested once again.

The series has seen the team experimenting with middle-order aspirants like Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, as part of the preparations for the upcoming World Cup.

Whether the decision to rest Kohli for the crucial game will pay off in India's favour in the final match, only time will tell.
