In a low-scoring encounter, Welsh Fire prevailed over Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred 2023 Men competition on Thursday evening by six wickets. The main culprits in Phoenix's downfall were Fire's bowlers Haris Rauf, David Payne, and Roelof van der Merwe, who claimed two wickets apiece.

Rauf, one of the hottest T20 properties in the world lately claimed crucial wickets of Jamie Smith and Liam Livingstone. Rauf, known for sheer pace, displayed smart and intelligent bowling, deceiving Livingstone with a slower delivery.

Livingstone, who struck Rauf for a 122m six during Pakistan's tour of England in 2021, ended up playing the shot early and had his middle stump rattled.

Rauf, who also plays for Lahore Qalandars (LQ) in Pakistan Super League (PSL) has claimed five wickets in five matches for Welsh this season, with fellow Pakistan teammate clinching six. 

Welsh Fire are third in The Hundred 2023 Men standings with five points and next face Southern Brave on Saturday.
