Mumbai Indians (MI) catered themselves to an emphatic 29-run triumph over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). While the outcome marked their first win of the season, under-fire captain Hardik Pandya still bore the wrath of several Rohit Sharma fans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Ever since Pandya was elected as new Mumbai Indians skipper for IPL 2024, the all-rounder has been subjected to severe online criticism and on-field jeering from several fans and followers of the team.

After hosts upstaged Delhi Capitals by 29 runs on April 7, a number of Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma fans even broke into an argument outside the stadium, at a time when they were broadcasted through a news portal.

Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma fans quarrel after MI win

Mumbai Indians fandom seems to have been divided into two factions, one which boasts of Hardik Pandya fans and the other a slightly more vocal community of Rohit Sharma followers.

Fans of Sharma continue to question the decision of the Mumbai Indians team management of stripping him of his leadership duties in favor of Hardik Pandya.

After Mumbai Indians ravaged Delhi Capitals by 29 runs on April 7, several fans of the two cricketers were spotted quarrelling with each other right outside the Wankhede Stadium.

While one particular fan claimed that Pandya should not be treated with insults or taunts by crowds just for the sake of Sharma, others interrupted the person with chants for the former Mumbai Indians skipper.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya themselves seem to be on good talking terms, if their latest cricketing ventures are any indication.

The two cricketers were seen celebrating Mumbai Indians win together at the stadium, just days after Sharma urged the crowd to stop booing Pandya while fielding near the boundary.

Regardless, both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya will now be seen taking on the RCB in match number 25 of the IPL 2024 season on April 11.
