Team India is set to embark on a fresh T20I journey under the reigns of newly-appointed captain Suryakumar Yadav and new head coach Gautam Gambhir with a white-ball series in Sri Lanka. Ahead of the T20Is against the hosts, the ‘Men in Blue’ vibed together during a seemingly fun fielding session in Pallekele.

In a video shared by the BCCI, captain Suryakumar Yadav can be seen at his jovial best as he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow Indian players Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and others.

T Dilip, who was retained as India’s fielding coach for Gambhir’s new management, also engaged in a friendly banter with the playing group in Sri Lanka.

Indian team players vibe in a ‘fun’ fielding session

On July 26, a day prior to India’s series-opening T20I against Sri Lanka, the entire ‘Men in Blue’ contingent touched base in Kandy to perform an extensive fielding drill. The grueling session turned out to be a rather playful outing for the Indian players, as evidenced by a recent video shared by the BCCI on social media.

Under the supervision of fielding coach T Dilip and head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Suryakumar Yadav and several other star attractions like Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill were seemingly spotted ‘vibing’ amidst the intense fielding session.

The series against Sri Lanka marks India’s first set of international fixtures since capturing the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies back on June 29. After captain Rohit Sharma and fellow seasoned campaigner Virat Kohli concurrently announced their international retirements, Suryakumar Yadav was declared as India’s T20I captain going ahead.

The first T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka will be staged at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on July 27.
