Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans can breathe a sigh of relief as senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been spotted in full swing at the nets, practicing his trademark Yorkers ahead of the highly anticipated clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match, set to take place today at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, could see the experienced pacer make his return after missing the opening game of RCB’s campaign.
Bhuvneshwar's Training Session Sparks Hope
The 35-year-old pacer, who was brought in by RCB for a hefty sum of Rs 10.75 crore at last year’s auction, was initially ruled out of RCB’s season opener against KKR due to a minor injury.
In his place, the franchise opted to go with Jammu and Kashmir pacer Rasikh Salam Dhar. However it is important to mention that despite Bhuvneshwar’s absence, RCB managed a thrilling victory over KKR with significant contribution by Krunal Pandya. With the bat Virat Kohli and Phil Salt stole the show with valuable performance. Watch the video here:
However, hope is high for Bhuvneshwar’s return as recent videos have surfaced showing him in top form, practicing his yorkers at full pace. The pacer’s hard work at the nets has only added to the anticipation surrounding his availability for today’s crucial match against CSK.
However, it is important to mention that RCB’s mentor, Dinesh Karthik, also fueled optimism about Bhuvneshwar’s potential return during the pre-match press conference.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Record In IPL vs CSK
With 13 wickets in 20 innings against CSK and 7 wickets in 12 innings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's track record suggests that he could be the crucial player to break CSK’s formidable top order. His ability to bowl disciplined and accurate yorkers could be crucial in maintaining control in the death overs, something that RCB’s bowling attack has often lacked.
