Pakistan players, following their two-week long stay in Hyderabad, have arrived in Ahmedabad for their forthcoming high-profile World Cup 2023 clash against India. Captain Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi among others were recently seen making their way to the team hotel near the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, at a time when the ‘Men in Blue’ were engaged in a tense duel against Afghanistan in Delhi.

Pakistan shifts World Cup 2023 base to Ahmedabad

The Pakistan cricket team arrived in Hyderabad late last month for warm-up fixtures and their opening two matches of the 2023 World Cup. After thumping out Netherlands and Sri Lanka in successive games at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, they will now face arch-rivals and tournament hosts India in Ahmedabad on October 14.

A day after routing Sri Lanka in a record World Cup run-chase, the Pakistan team management was seen making its way to their team hotel near Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Pakistan launched their World Cup 2023 campaign with a match against Netherlands on October 6. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel slapped 68 each in the Pakistan innings upfront after their top-order was jolted by the Dutchmen at 38-3.

Rizwan and Shakeel’s partnership, coupled with lower-order contributions eventually lifted the ‘Men in Green’ to a competitive 285, a total that proved 81 runs enough to better Netherlands’ best run-chase effort in the evening.

In their subsequent World Cup 2023 outing at the same Hyderabadi venue, centuries from Rizwan and opener Abdullah Shafique helped their side hunt down Sri Lanka’s monumental 344 with more than an over to spare.

Having registered two confident wins out of two games, Babar Azam and co. will head into their India battle as among the top four ranked sides on the World Cup 2023 points table.
