Wahab Riaz, the former Pakistan Cricketer and national selector has decided to withdraw from Pakistan's domestic T20 tournament, the National T20 Cup. The decision was revealed by Salman Butt in a TV show. Wahab was set to play for Lahore Whites after the 39-year-old impressed in the Trail for Lahore Greens with his all-round performance.
However, as soon as his name popped up for the National T20 Cup, it generated widespread criticism from fans. They trolled Pakistan cricket and Wahab Riaz for wasting a place of a youngster for a player who has already retired and has even been the selector of Pakistan cricket in recent times.
Wahab Riaz Takes U-Turn Due To Personal Commitments And Champions Cup Work
It might have affected Wahab Riaz' decision and according to Qadir Khawaja, the pacer has decided to withdraw because of his personal commitments and engagements in Champions Cup. Wahab Riaz last played for Pakistan in 2020 while he was active as a player in PSL till 2023.
He has now completed PCB's level-2 coaching course and has grown as a stature as an administrator in the recent past. The National T20 Cup will start on March 14 with defending champions Karachi taking on Islamabad.
The final will be played on March 27 while there will be total of 32 matches in the tournament. 24 of those will be played at the Faisalabad Stadium while 8 matches will be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
