Indian batting maverick, Virat Kohli completed his 50th ODI century, surpassing the record 49 centuries of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.

The 50th century came in the first semi-final of the World Cup 2023 against New Zealand on Wednesday, November 16 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

However, during Kohli’s century, a strange black band appeared on his wrist. Ever since fans noticed that black band on his wrist, there have been numerous arguments and discussions regarding what it actually is and why Virat Kohli was wearing it.

While many speculated it was a watch, it's not; it's actually a 'fitness band.' This particular fitness band is different from others. The one on Kohli’s wrist is from the yet-to-launch 'WHOOP' brand, not available in India.

In a market full of smartwatches and fitness bands, this one is unique as it has no display and a different charging method. Virat Kohli is not the only player who wears this fitness band, as other Indian cricketers have also been spotted wearing it.

Since its inception in 2015, the brand, led by CEO Will Ahmed, introduced its first device, Whoop 1.0. Fast-tracking to 2021, the company rolled out the 4.0 version. In a recent collaboration with OpenAI, they unveiled Hoop Coach.

Furthermore, this fitness band operates on a subscription model, requiring a monthly fee for usage. The WHOOP 4.0 enables tracking of heart rate, temperature, respiration rate, blood oxygen level, calories burned, and more.

Priced at $239, it offers 24-hour wearability and facilitates comprehensive sleep tracking. Unfortunately, it is not currently available in India.
