  • Virat Kohli Told Me My Fitness Levels Were Not Good Sarfaraz Khan Reveals Harsh Reality Check

‘Virat Kohli told me my fitness levels were not good,’ Sarfaraz Khan reveals harsh reality check

Sarfaraz Khan was seen as a prodigy during his earlier days. However, the Mumbai-based batter has failed to meet the lofty standards expected of him. The youngster has not been able to put in consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There have also been concerns over his fitness levels in the past.

What did Virat Kohli tell Sarfaraz Khan?

Sarfaraz Khan has now revealed that Virat Kohli highlighted his poor fitness levels back in 2015/16 when he was playing in the IPL. The 24-year-old added that he was never serious about his fitness, until two years back when he decided to make amends.

"When I played IPL in 2015-06, my fitness level was not good and Virat Kohli had also told me that. After that, I improved my fitness but I again put on weight. But in the last two years, I have been very disciplined about my health,” Sarfaraz said, as quoted by Hindustan times.

“When it will be in my luck, I will play for India” : Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan had a terrific Ranji Trophy campaign, where he finished as the top run-getter. The Mumbai batter amassed 982 runs in six matches, bettering his previous best of 928 runs during the 2018-19 season.

Sarfaraz Khan is determined to continue with his good form, which would make him a strong contender for a call-up to the Indian Test side.

"I play in the hope that I get better every day. This is my passion; this is what I have always wanted to do and I never want to come out of this zone. When it will be in my luck, I will play for India," he added.
