'You can never rule out a player of his calibre' - Dinesh Karthik confident of Virat Kohli’s comeback

Dinesh Karthik, a player who is known for his comebacks, is confident that his fellow RCB teammate will overcome his rough patch soon.

Virat Kohli, who hasn't reached three figures in nearly three years, had a forgetful tour of England this summer. With scores of 11, 20, 1, 11, 16 and 17, he couldn’t perform in any format.

But the former Indian skipper has been receiving the backing of his captain Rohit Sharma and many pundits from the cricketing fraternity. The latest cricketer to support him is veteran wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik.

Speaking to the media, Karthik claims that the 33 year old will come back stronger after his break from the West Indies tour.

"Virat has experienced insane success over the period of time. Now he will get a good break and will come back all recharged and hopefully, will do phenomenally well. You can never rule out a player of his calibre," said Karthik.

Karthik has pulled off multiple comebacks into the Indian squad and is one of the first names on the team sheet now. He clearly knows the struggles of making a comeback and believes that Kohli has what it takes to turn things around. 

"It is never easy, but I have worked hard for it. Also, given the bench strength that we have today, the competition is always going to be a part of it. This is the beauty of Indian cricket," said Karthik

The T20 World Cup is just around the corner and player performances will be closely monitored. Karthik is likely to be India’s first choice finisher but with Deepak Hooda playing in the form of his life, Kohli's position is still under scrutiny.

Karthik remains positive that the team is moving in the right direction and is ready for the challenges ahead.

"As a team we are preparing for the challenges we will have to face during the upcoming World Cup. Coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma have taken everyone along as we prepare for the big event. It is a very positive environment," said Karthik.
