Pakistan international Faheem Ashraf has been roped in by Sussex for the remainder of the ongoing English home season. The short-term association was announced by the cricket club across their social media handles on Sunday, September 11, i.e., ahead of Sussex’ home game against Worcestershire.

Faheem Ashraf expresses delight at joining Sussex

Ashraf made his international debut in 2017 with an ODI against Sri Lanka. So far, the all-rounder has represented his national side across 14 Tests, 31 ODIs and 42 T20Is. His last appearance for Pakistan came in a home Test against Australia earlier this year.

After the signing, the 28-year-old expressed his excitement at joining Sussex. He said:

“Thank you to everyone here at Sussex, I am really excited to be here. I am looking forward to playing four-day cricket here in England and I will give 100% for Sussex and hope they enjoy my performances.”

Faheem will be available to play all three of Sussex remaining County Championship games this year. The County giants are slated to go up against Worcestershire at Hove on September 12.

Their remaining two fixtures includes matches against Durham and Glamorgan. They are currently placed at number seven on the Division Two points table, having managed just a solitary win out of their 11 games so far this season.
