Indian stalwart Virat Kohli has said that he is happy and excited about his contributions to the team following his exemplary knock in the third T20I against Australia on Sunday.

Virat Kohli struck some welcome form with a 48-ball 63 including four sixes and three boundaries and though he fell with just five needed off five balls, the star batter had ensured a victory for his team.

Kohli (63) alongside Suryakumar Yadav (69) forged a century partnership as India defeated Australia by six wickets with one ball to spare in the third T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium to clinch the three-match series by a margin of 2-1.

Speaking after the match, as quoted by CricInfo, Kohli said that he utilised his experience for the team's sake against Australia's premier spinner Adam Zampa, who was Australia's best bowler in the second T20I at Nagpur.

"I have to utilise my experience and had to take down (Adam) Zampa. I looked at the dugout and both (KL) Rahul and Rohit (Sharma) asked me to continue batting."

Kohli further said that he is enjoying his batting ever since his return to the cricketing field following a break after the England tour.

"I made up my mind to go after him (Zampa). He is a quality bowler and tries to control my scoring. I knew he was attacking my stumps, so was outside the leg stump. The game shouldn't have gone for that long, should have finished earlier. I have enjoyed batting ever since I came back. Today also I was an hour and half before the team. I am excited and happy with my contributions. Just trying to place in safe space".
