India's Champions Trophy 2025 squad was revealed a couple of weeks ago, but there is still time for all the teams to make the final tweaks and it feels India are still contemplating on including their mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy in the squad for the Champions Trophy. The latest reports coming from Nagpur, the venue for the first ODI tells an interesting story.

The wily spinner is currently training with the India ODI squad in Nagpur, and while there is no conclusive update on why he is with the squad despite not being a part of it, many feel that India might make a last minute change in their team.

Will Chakravarthy be included in the Champions Trophy team?

Chakravarthy was not included in the original India squad for the ICC mega event, however, he is currently with the ODI players who will be travelling to Dubai for the tournament.

The KKR spinner was instrumental in India's win over England in the T20Is, as he picked up 14 wickets in the series, including a five-wicket haul. The England batters failed to read him as he bamboozled them with his skills. As a result, the team management might be considering booking him on the flight to Dubai.

Can India make a last minute change in the squad?

Interestingly, all the teams can make changes to their Champions Trophy squad prior to the tournament. The teams need to inform ICC about this move before tweaking their sides. In that case, India could potentially bring in the wily spinner as the mystery aspect in the squad, something which the team lacks at the moment.

Ashwin backs Chakravarthy to make the cut in the squad

Recently retired India spinner, R Ashwin has also batted for the inclusion of Chakravarthy in the India squad and he feels that the wily spinner will be a last minute entry in the team, but there is unclarity on who he might replace.
