Umesh Yadav shatters stumps during his County debut for Middlesex

Senior Indian pacer Umesh Yadav picked up his maiden County Championship wicket while playing for Middlesex. He shattered the stumps of Worcestershire’s number three batter Taylor Cornall, dismissing him for just 11.


Yadav bowled 14 overs in Worcestershire’s first innings, finishing with figures of 1-45. However, his Middlesex teammates Tim Murtagh and Toby Roland-Jones did most of the damage as the duo shared seven wickets between them.

Middlesex roped in the Indian cricketer for the ongoing 2022 County Championship as a replacement for Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi.

After hosts Middlesex scored 188 on opening day, they dismissed Worcestershire batters for just 191.  


They returned to bat for their second innings and finished Day 2 at 180-6, thus managing a lead of 177 runs over the visitors. At the time of publishing, Middlesex reached 207-8 off 72 overs, with overnight batsman Luke Holland (44*) at the crease alongside tail-ender Yadav.
