MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have backed Tushar Deshpande after a forgetful opening game of IPL 2023.  The right-arm pacer has been brought back as an Impact Player in their second game against LSG. Deshpande again replaced CSK's veteran Ambati Rayudu at the start of their second innings and he would be looking to make an impact this time around with a cushion of big total under the belt.

Earlier, Ayush Badoni replaced Avesh Khan as an Impact Player for LSG at the backend of CSK's innings. CSK posted a huge total of 217 with Gaikwad smashing another fifty and Dhoni finishing things off in style with two sixes in the final over.

Tushar Deshpande, though, failed to make an impact in his opening over again as he gave away 18 runs but came back strongly at the death picking an important wicket of Pooran when he was going great guns and Ayush Badoni in the final over.

The credit should also go to MS Dhoni for keeping faith in Deshpande despite the pacer failing miserably in the opening game against GT. Tushar Deshpande has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket for Mumbai and in 2022-23 Mushtaq Ali trophy, Tushar picked 17 wickets in 10 games with an economy rate of just 6.72. We can expect him to build on the confidence he gained from this performance against LSG.
