Cricket fans were treated to a classic dose of nostalgia when Yuvraj Singh recently trolled former teammate Gautam Gambhir over an "uncharacteristic" smile in a vacation photo with his wife and family in France.

The viral Instagram post, shared by Gautam Gambhir from a getaway in France with his wife Natasha, showed the typically intense cricketer flashing a subtle grin a sight rare enough to catch Yuvraj and his fans' attention.

Yuvraj Playfully Roasts Gambhir's Smile

The 2011 World Cup hero couldn't resist poking fun, commenting in Hindi, 'Tu Na Hasiyo (You Don't Smile)' a witty nod to Gambhir's trademark serious demeanour. The comment section exploded with fans applauding Yuvraj's sharp observation.

This isn't the first time Yuvraj Singh has playfully called out Gambhir's stoicism. During the 2020 lockdown, when Gambhir posted a stern-faced photo captioned "Social distancing since 2003" Yuvraj quipped, "The only smile here is the emoji!", highlighting their long-running comic dynamic.

The duo's relationship dates back to their playing days when they formed crucial partnerships in India's 2007 T20 and 2011 ODI World Cup triumphs. While Gambhir anchored innings with gritty focus, Yuvraj brought flamboyant firepower, a contrast that now plays out in their social media exchanges.

Gambhir Misses First Week Of IPL

The Maldives photo stands out in Gambhir's Instagram portfolio dominated by intense training clips and serious political content. His 11.2M followers have seen probably just 1% of posts feature full smiles. 

Nevertheless, the India coach has been enjoying his vacation days with his family significantly missing the first week of IPL 2025. 

The excitement surrounding the IPL has begun to escalate, with some questioning his absence as a sign of neglect towards the league. Many believe he should be present to scout the next generation of talents, like Ashutosh Sharma, who could potentially shine in the Indian team. 

Although Gambhir's return date has not been confirmed, he is expected to join soon and closely monitor the league upon his return.
