Salem Spartans, after losing six matches on the trot, finally eked out a victory in their final league stage fixture of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2022 as they decimated Dindigul Dragons by 18 runs last night.

While chasing an under-par total of 125, Dindigul couldn't find any rhythm and kept losing wickets at regular intervals to eventually be restricted to 106 runs for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs.
Apart from R Vimal Khumar, who fell just seven runs short of his half-century, no other batter could hang around in the middle for a while as the Spartans' bowlers curbed the run flow exceptionally.
Besides Khumar, K Mani Bharathi, L Vignesh and V Diran also touched the two-digit figure for Dindigul Dragons with the bat, scoring 12 runs each.
From the Spartans' bowling point of view, Periyasamy clenched a three-wicket haul and was well followed by Murugan Ashwin and Rajendran Karthikeyan, who collected two wickets each.

Salem Spartans' 124 proved to be enough
Earlier, after opting to bat first, Salem Spartans posted 124 on the board, which turned out to be enough, thanks to a stellar bowling performance from their bowlers.
On the batting front, the 24-year-old right-hander Daryl Sunder Ferrario's 36-ball 38 was the only bright spot in their otherwise underwhelming inning from Spartans' batters.
Pranav Kumar (23* off 15) and S Abishiek (24-ball 18) also delivered satisfactory performances with the bat.
For Dindigul Dragons, M Silambarasan and R Vivek scalped two wickets each, while the remaining bowlers fetched one apiece except L Vignesh, who remained wicketless.
