TNPL 2022 | R Sai Kishore's jaw-dropping spell helps Chepauk decimate ITT to seal a playoffs berth

The young spin maestro R Sai Kishore bowled the spell of his life as Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) became the second franchise in the ongoing season of TNPL to seal a berth in playoffs with a resounding 60-run victory over IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans on Friday, July 22.

Sai Kishore bamboozles ITT

Sai Kishore spun the web around Tamizhans' middle and lower order, picking up four wickets in his spell of four overs while conceding just two runs as S Anirudha-led side were bundled out for just 73 runs with three balls remaining.

Tamizhans started the 134-run chase on a decent note as their openers S Aravind (10) and S Anirudha (25) shared a 25-run stand for the opening wicket. However, what followed after that was a horrendous collapse as, except for the duo and Tushar Raheja (11), none of their batters could manage to hit the double-digit score.

Sasidev steers CSG to a respectable total

Earlier, the decision of ITT skipper Srikkanth Anirudha to bowl first on a tricky track of Salem after winning the toss backfired on them big time. The three-time champions went on to post 133 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of the first inning.

Uthirasamy Sasidev top-scored for them, scoring an unbeaten 45 off 29 deliveries laced with three boundaries and two maximums.

While Crist bagged three wickets in his spell of 4 overs, Mohan Prasath and Manigandan scalped two wickets each.

With this win, CSG have 10 points and have qualified for the semis.

Brief Score:

Chepauk Super Gillies: 133/9
