Tim David in contention for a spot in World Cup squad: Aaron Finch

Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch is eyeing another T20 World Cup for the Aussies and the tournament being less than five months away, the captain has dropped a huge indication about the possible inclusion of Tim David in their T20 squad.

Tim David is a Singaporean- Australian cricketer. He was born in Singapore but shifted to Australia at a young age. However, the 26-year-old represented Singapore, similar to his father, who also played for the nation. David has played 14 T20Is and has amassed 558 runs averaging 46, and it was one of the major reasons Mumbai bought him for a whopping INR 8.25 cr in the mega auction.

He became the first Singaporean to play in the IPL, and his explosive batting earned him the spotlight that he deserves. He had an amazing individual season for Mumbai even after being benched in the middle of the tournament. His performance in the biggest T20 league has brought him into serious consideration for representing Australia at the 2022 T20 World Cup.

When asked about Tim David's inclusion into the side and him being half Australian, Aaron Finch speaking to Fox Sports, revealed, "Yeah, I think so. He's been in fantastic form for a while now. The back end of the IPL was fantastic for him. He was at his brutal best. The ability to hit from ball one is a pretty rare skill, and he's done that plenty of times now.

Him being so consistent that's something we will definitely look at over the next little while," Finch said.

Australia won their maiden T20 World Cup last year when they defeated New Zealand in the finals. Aussies are looking to extend their cabinet and defend the World Cup, as they host it this year starting October 16.

There is still ample time left for all teams to strengthen their squads and look for the right combinations. However, compared to last year, Australia have few worries as some of the players seem to be rusty with their form lately, including the captain himself.

Finch even spoke about his rough patch and said, "It's been a reasonable lean patch; I've been through that plenty of times in my career," Finch said.

"At times, you go through a stage when you get a heap of runs in a hurry, and then you go through a lean patch. So that's something to look forward to. It's such a busy schedule of cricket it's time to build and get back into the groove of one-day cricket especially," he stated.
