Indian women's team to host World Champions Australia for T20I series in December

India's women's team will host World Champions Australia for a five-match T20I series in December later this year. Cricket Australia announced its schedule for the 2022-23 season, and the series is a part of it. However, the dates and venues are still unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, both the teams are set to play each other before their series in December. Indian women will play against Australia on July 29 in Birmingham, Edgbaston, as a part of Group A matches at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Both the teams last played their international matches back in March at the ICC World Cup. Australia emerged as the world's champions, winning the World Cup for a record 7th time. On the other hand, India had a forgettable campaign, but one positive for the women's team was the T20 Challenge.

Supernovas won their record 3rd title after defeating Velocity on May 28. The 4 match tournament comprising 3 teams was short and acted as a filler for IPL's rest day. Having said that, games of such intensity and atmosphere are really beneficial for the growth of women's cricket.

India are also set to face England post the Commonwealth Games. They will travel to England for a short 3-match ODI series which is set to begin on September 18.

Focusing on the ICC rankings of both the teams in the shortest format of the game, Australia have the upper hand as they are the top-ranked T20I team globally. India sits in the 4th position behind Australia, England, and New Zealand.
