Emerging T20 sensation Tim David, who made his Australia debut in the ongoing series against India, revealed that the experience of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) helped him and his teammates stay calm and collected during the high-pressure chase in the first T20I in Mohali.

Although the Singapore-born couldn't impress much, scoring a modest 14-ball 18, he was involved in a match-winning 62-run stand with Matthew Wade (45* off 21) to help Australia chase down their first 200+ score against the hosts with four balls to spare.

Here's what David commented on the IPL

"Having some good experience playing in India, I think finishing off games and understanding how it can go and how the pitches can play or when it kind of lights up in front of you, so you know, there can be an advantage batting second in Indian conditions,"

"That was a good experience in IPL to draw on to the other night out there in the middle. And that was some brilliant performances from our batsmen."

Speaking about his ambitions of playing in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022, David revealed that he is not thinking too far ahead and will take one game at a time in the short build to the multi-national event.

Australia will look to seal the series when they lock horns against India in Nagpur in the second T20I of the three-match series on Friday.
